does it really mater whether or not you use caps in the beginning of every sentence in an thread post?
i'm asking this because some guy over at spacebattles over reacted and put me on his ignore list for not using caps.

I care in the sense that it makes you far easier to understand.

if it's a serious discussion or there are a lot of a words, i try to capitalize to make it easier to read. if it's just a few sentences, i'll probably ignore it because most people shouldn't have trouble reading just a few sentences.

To rephrase this (a little unkindly): "If I don't care about being taken very seriously, I won't bother - and I'll deal with irritating/inconveniencing other people. If I do care, I'll take the trouble to make my posts look vaguely professional".

It's not worthy of an ignore, but it doesn't do you any favours, is the way I'd approach it.

It's simply not proper English, is all. It's lazy, texting sort of language.

Then again, even proper punctuation is falling out of use, which is an even worse sin...

Hmmm interesting. I think i see what you guys are trying to say. Oh well might as well start using caps, but i wont use them at SP, just to annoy them..... and because I'm a childish asshat and they pissed me off. lolz

If it is serious, you have to use ALL CAPS.
If it is normal discussion, use proper English.
If it is SAKURA DISCUSSIONS, all formats are acceptable, although 1337 is the preferred format.

Ya man, nothing says "FEEL THE RAGE IN MY BOSOMS" like a rant in 1337.

The English language ship is sinking, let's all go to another boat!

But seriously, I wouldn't doubt it if there's a sort of schism in the language, sort of like the Vulgar/Classical/Ecclesiastical divergence of Latin.

And the funny thing is, many Indians actually speak better English than native English speakers. Due to their being a former colony of the British Empire, they all basically learn a "preserved" form of the language without any modern corruptions.

Another note: English is one of the only languages without a governing authority, and by far the most major; all we have are dictionaries that are ultimately ruled by popular usage.

I blame Canada. You betcha, eh!

Nah, Canada does more to mess with French than it does to mess with English.

    Two words: "Canadian Raising."

That's from Ontario (and New England) though.

And everyone hates Ontario. Two words: "Ontario Sucks."

Unless you live in the US, in which case, you can cross the border at the ages of 19 and 20 and get completely (and legally) tanked.

Toronto's also awesome, so screw you, hippy.

Ooh, you can get legally tanked at 19 if you cross a border?! Wow!!

Come to Europe, you Puritans. For crying out loud.

    Wait, isn't the UK 21?

Christ, no! On licensed premises, it's 16 with a meal, 18 without. And the usual 'it's OK as long as there's supervision' clause applies at home, as long as you're over 7.

Huh, thought I heard something about 21 and pubs from friends.
