Servants

Long-Term Project; The Morrigan

Time to do it. Thoth the Atlantean Beast. Not 5 though... what number should he be?

I stood before Doreal, whose back faced me. He chanted his incantations, paying me no mind like a fool. I remember this moment well. It is... my defining failure. The moment my endless chase began. I called upon all the powers my existence could offer. Doreal was protected by a threefold barrier. Normally, such a thing would be a problem for a magus... I was no magus.

I was a living curse.

I easily tore apart the three barriers. With a single gandr shot, I should have been able to easily defeat the first-generation magus Doreal. His only asset was the Book of Thoth. Yet I had underestimated his meticulousness. His ability to pre-plan. Whether by magecraft or sheer luck, I missed my attack. Enough to make a difference.

The glancing wound did not even make Doreal stutter as he finished his last incantations and opened a rift to a place only even I dreamed of. Imaginary Numbers Space. A rift between mankind's domain and the reverse side of the world. I watched as Doreal carved a rune onto the front of the book before throwing it in. After which the rift closed up, the world correcting itself this abnormality.

I could have attempted to interfere but I knew. It was all too late. I would not have been fast enough to reach him before the rune was carved... and there were too many variables for a split decision, which would grant Doreal a window to throw the book into Imaginary Numbers Space. All in all... he had won the battle.

Then I woke from the dream of my failure. Another timeline. Another summoning. I stared at my 'Master'. Your typical magus you'd see anywhere. I felt myself strain against the container. The man before me was perplexed. As if I was not who he was expecting.

W-wait. Your not Blavatsky... who are you!? Identify yourself, servant! What is your class, what is your true name!? Do not force me t-

Silence.

I cast a curse on the man. His expression became vacant and his eyes dulled. I caught him before he fell. Setting him in a bed, I went to explore my surroundings. When, where, and why was I summoned? Why was simple. Maurice Doreal, in some form, had been summoned. I eyed the outside and could not determine at a glance when or where, as the magus had summoned me to a shack in the middle of a forest.

However, it was fine.

After all, as long as I could find Doreal, all would be well. My plans for humanity could progress.

All I needed was the Book of Thoth.

Without it, my erasure of ignorance, the end of stagnation, was impossible.

An Evil of Humanity Approaches

Now. Where is Doreal... he should be somewhere. Hmmm? Ah, you must be the summoner. Apologies, but I don't need your service. Off with you.

History
The Emerald Tablets of Destiny. Once thought to be an invention by Gilgamesh, there are in fact two sets. The ones penned by said King were based on revelatory dreams he had as well as visions. Highly informative but not all that mystical. The other belonged to the gods until they were brought low by a bird. A bird named Anzu. It stole from the gods and drew their ire. The bird hid them and the tablets were lost to time.

That is until another magus discovered them. Hermes Trismegistus. He researched what he held and discovered its truth. Knowing the risk they posed to humanity he banished them away from the texture he lived on. Before that, however, he created a mystic code that fulfilled the same function. Granting him the answer to any question he had when mana was fed to it. The only difference was the tablets inserted the information into his head. His mystic code displayed them on pages.

However, he did not desire to pass it down. However, he learned that no method would keep it safe. Someday it would fall into humanity's hands regardless of his actions. So he made a harsh decision. To curse the mystic code. A curse that would observe whoever held it for weaknesses to exploit and tempt. All to drive mad magi who would misuse and abuse the mystic code for a shortcut.

He hoped that by doing so the mystic code would gain a reputation as being cursed and thrown away. Yet it was not. Moving from hand to hand throughout the time the curse observed and struck. Magi did not learn from this and continued to use it to their own detriment. Some would try to overturn the curse or foil it. Others would try to live with it. Each attempt failed and it continued to learn and tempt magi into madness.

That is until one magus attained it. Sir Isaac Newton, once acquired him at an auction, barely ever used him. At best he only used him as a convenient, magical thesaurus. Something the curse had never seen before. It tried and tried to tempt him but it never worked. The Magus did the one thing that prevented the curse from working properly. Not engaging it.

The curse, however, had evolved beyond its base instructions. Learning from all it observed it had gained a simple sense of self. It knew its function and was dismayed it could not tempt Isaac. That was until it truly understood Isaac. They were never a magus to begin with. They wanted to contribute to humanity and had turned away from magecraft entirely once its usefulness had run out for that purpose and shifted to science.

Naturally, though, Isaac never forgot their roots and knew better. The curse realized Isaac figured out it was cursed and the nature of the curse. The curse took to heart the lesson Isaac unwittingly taught the curse. Analysis. To examine and determine the nature of things to make an informed decision. A lesson that the curse would retain for its entire life.

After Isaac he would exchange hands until reaching the magus Jean-Baptiste

Class Skills
Independent Manifestation: C
Despite achieving Beasthood, Thoth lacks this skill at a high rank due, in part, to her personal skill 'Cursed Existence'. As a Living Curse, she cannot properly exist in the world, regardless of Era, and is rejected by it. This skill alleviates this for the most part but by doing so its rank is considerably hindered and not as strong as it ought to be. Despite this, she can utilize it for her purpose; Pursuing the heroic spirit of Maurice Doreal. Should either the Heroic Spirit ever leave the Throne of Heroes or should she give up on her pursuit this skill will drastically tank, going all the way down to E-rank and being functionally worthless.

At this rank, she does not need a master for combat and while she is limited in deploying her Noble Phantasm she can still utilize it a few times before holding off for a while. In addition to this she, through this skill and her legend, has outright immunity to instant death attacks and temporal paradoxes though there are some ways around this immunity. Finally, it allows her to exist in the same timeline and reality as the Heroic Spirit Maurice Doreal.

Authority of the Beast: B
A skill she acquired in her ascent into beasthood. It acts inherently as an Anti-Human Order skill based on the sin she represents, not to be confused with the seven deadly sins. As she bears the Sin of Pity, viewing Humanity's inevitable stagnation by the unstoppable force of Ignorance, this skill represents this facet of her. It warps the world around her to express her ideal.

As she wishes to tear down the walls of ignorance this inherently means that she wishes to expose all to the secrets of the universe. This, in turn, makes this skill do this. All humans within range of this skill (roughly 1 mile in diameter) become extremely curious. To a dangerous degree. Any question that enters their head they become compelled to answer. Even servants of the Man attribute become influenced by this without the proper protections (mental interference). Even should the question be answered the compulsion isn't quite gone. Rather it will go dormant until a new question enters their head.

To be clear C-rank mental protections can allow one to ignore the compulsion but the question will simply repeat in their brain. B-rank protections are required to prevent any sort of manipulation of their thought patterns or mental processes. However, there is a small workaround. Any answer will satisfy the question so long as the individual genuinely accepts it. Once this occurs the compulsion goes into dormancy. Further, this skill does not overwrite the brain, merely delaying other thoughts until the question is answered. This allows for prior thoughts to resurface upon the compulsion going dormant.

Nega-Mystery: EX
An end to ignorance. The coming of enlightenment. That is what this skill represents. Her authority gives humanity the means to overcome ignorance. Yet it alone cannot solve the problem as once a human leaves its range the effects slowly dissipate over time. This skill however operates in reverse. Her authority slowly works humans towards enlightenment while this skill destroys ignorance from the root. That, at least, is the idea behind it.

A passive skill that is constantly active, this skill automatically scans and analyzes the structure and basis of anything she looks at. Once complete it compiles and assembles an understanding of the object or concept that she is unfamiliar with. Then it tests it against her memories for any contradictory information. Upon a contradiction, a rationalization is created or re-analysis occurs. This repeats until the information has no contradictions. Thus even should she be ignorant of a concept, object, or person she will not remain so when brought to its presence for long.

For mundane objects, this skill simply gives her understanding. However, it is dangerous for objects of 'Mystery'. This is because this skill automatically creates an understanding and explanation for the mystery. In a sense, this skill acts like a combination of Anti-Mystery, Mystery Slayer, and High-Speed Calculation. Activate at all times and passively. Perhaps the one saving grace is that any other servant, save perhaps the original author of the Emerald Tablets of Thoth, this skill isn't as strong.

Rather it simply functions akin to High-Speed Calculation with the potential to gain Anti-Mystery properties in other servants. For her, who gazed upon the vast knowledge of the Emerald Tablets and learned from many great Magi, this skill works vastly differently thanks to her knowledge and experience.

Personal Skills
Librarian of Knowledge: B
A skill that allows for the perfect recall of memories and information that she personally witnessed, even details that she ignored at first. Through this skill, she recalls each page of the Book of Thoth that hundreds of magus read through in her original timeline. Even in Beasthood, she has not forgotten the research, knowledge, and lessons she learned from them. Even those she ignored, tempted or originally wrote off as worthless.

Despite the encyclopedic knowledge she has it is not a perfect skill even at this rank as it derives information and details from her memories. Even if she gazed upon the vast knowledge of the Book of Thoth, due to how it functioned she did not gaze at the sum total. Rather she gazed upon the information that magi of various paths looked upon and those pages alone. It is for this reason that she does not have a false form of 'Crystallized Wisdom (False)' but this skill.

Cursed Existence: EX
A skill derived from her origin and the truth of her existence. Born from the magus Hermes Trismegistus when said magus obtained, through hard labor, the original Tablets of Destiny. Converting them into the mystic code 'Book of Thoth', she eventually made the decision to curse the Book so that any who used it too much became obsessed with obtaining knowledge and would go mad. Either intentionally or unintentionally Hermes designed the curse to observe and learn from its surroundings, eventually granting it sentience and becoming a living curse.

This skill, based on this truth, grants her these effects. Utilizing accumulated information from her Nega skill, she can utilize this skill to directly tempt and drive mad a single target. While mental interference protections can weaken the effect, there is no stopping this skill completely. Even if rejected this skill imparts the effects of Mad Enhancement onto her target. While initially, it is equivalent to E-rank, each use of this skill increases the strength of Mad Enhancement until it reaches B rank and robs them of their ability to think rationally. Further, it also compels them to find and read the 'Book of Thoth'.

If the target has mental interference protections this skill still imparts a low-level compulsion that grows with each use of this skill by her.

Atlantean Psionics: C++
A skill held due to myths related to her in the modern day. Rather, at least, beliefs held in pseudoscience regarding Atlantis. It is widely believed that those of Atlantis were powerful psychics and that 'Thoth the Atlantean' was its king. While this is largely untrue, mystics rarely care for such things nor do legends. As such she, who bears the name Thoth the Atlantean by choice, has this skill if somewhat degraded. While the figure 'Thoth the Atlantean' cannot exist if it did it would have this skill at a higher rank.

This skill grants her the psionic powers ascribed to Atlanteans and in her case as its 'King' enhances them so long as she retains her status as a 'King' and they become further enhanced by bearing the name of the Atlantean sage Thoth. These powers include high-grade Clairvoyance, Teleportation, Anti-Misfortune Barriers, Flight, Telekinesis, and Mind-Reading. Generally, these powers manifest equal to the power of three-verse spells. Unlike magecraft however she does not need to utilize invocations or chants, she need only utilize mental focus and formulae.

However, she does have a trick regarding this skill. By combining it with fire magecraft she is aware of she can utilize a rare psychic power called 'Pyrokinesis'. Through it, she can generate spontaneously and control fire. This ability is specifically noted as when she fully uses this power it is as strong as a High Thaumaturgy. Similar to the other powers she can utilize it faster than traditional magecraft. However, unlike normal powers, she must vocalize the equation she is using as a chant due to utilizing proper fire magecraft to enhance this psychic ability spoken of in new age myth.

As a note, she can also utilize this skill to replicate jewel magecraft to an extent though only its storage and explosive capabilities. That is to say, she can convert gems into pure magical energy to fuel her psychic power or she can store mana in empty gems for later use and in a pinch cause them to explode violently with a thought. This attack is generally a B-rank attack.

Noble Phantasm
Tablettes de la Sagesse Humaine
Humanity's Six Great Wisdoms

Type: Anti-Unit (Self)
Rank: A++
A crystallization of the lessons she learned from what she considers to be the six greatest magus of history. Isaac Newton, Jean-Baptiste Alliette, Joseph Smith, Aleister Crowley and Aiwass, Howard Phillip Lovecraft, and finally Maurice Doreal. Each taught her the valuable lessons of Analysis, Foresight, Ambition, Cooperation, Perseverance, and Defiance. Each was a gift and a lesson she took to heart and what guided her to becoming an Evil of Humanity. They were what caused her to see what she thought was their full potential and granted her a genuine desire to aid them in overcoming what she views as a foregone conclusion; Stagnation due to humanity's penchant for ignorance.

Manifesting as this noble phantasm she generates benefits for herself from these gifts. Each lesson she learned from these magi and their story is inscribed on six tablets she holds (or, utilizing his psionic powers, has floating around her). Each time she takes one in hand it forms a weapon for her to use and grants her the benefits of the 'gift' inscribed. Switching weapons is as simple as letting go of the tablet and taking hold of a new one. If, for some reason, her Psionics are sealed off then they are attached to her hips akin to swords.

Sagesse de Curiosité, Analysis: The first gift, the wisdom of Analysis. Isaac Newton's endless analysis of magecraft and the world taught her the importance of studying a problem before taking action. Encapsulated in a tablet, when she takes it in hand it alters to the form of a fountain pen. This tablet grants her the effects of 'Fairy Eyes' at C-rank at all times which allows her to immediately see and hear through one's words and actions to see what they truly mean and desire. In other words, they are eyes and ears that cut through illusions and falsehoods to the truth. If she utilizes this gift's true name then she can utilize the accumulated information she has acquired to predict the next 5 minutes of combat. It is up to her to act on the information.

Sagesse de Préparation, Foresight: Jean-Baptiste Alliette taught her the second wisdom, Foresight. He taught her the importance of looking ahead and accounting for the possibilities. This gift takes the form of a scoped pistol when he takes hold of it in hand. Passively this tablet grants him the 'Mystic Eyes of Clairvoyance' at C-rank. This allows him to, through his mystic eyes, identify possible weak points in an enemy. If she utilizes the tablet's true name, Sagesse de Préparation, her next attack alters to and homes in on her enemy's weak point. In other words, she is guaranteed to hit a critical strike that hits a conceptual weakness that her Nega skill has identified.

Sagesse d'Ambition, Greed: The third gift was learned through the actions of Joseph Smith. His wisdom in the idea of Greed, of having a wish, was imparted to her. In her hand, the tablet, containing the lesson, takes the form of a great and heavy doubleheader axe. It grants her the effects of Golden Rule at C-rank which allows him to effortlessly accumulate resources and currency. When she utilizes this tablet's true name she can unleash an attack equal to her Mana parameter, though, for 10 minutes afterward, she will have an E-rank in her mana parameter.

Sagesse de l'Amitié, Cooperation: The gift of Cooperation that was imparted to her by the magus Aleister Crowley. He, through his cooperation with the alien lifeform named Aiwass, taught her that having the capability to work with others even if there are differences was vitally important. This gift has been crystallized into a tablet and takes the form of a pair of swords when she takes hold of it. The power of the skill Combination at C-rank flows through her allowing her to, without any communication, fight alongside another with the experience of a sworn comrade and also grants her and them a plus modifier. Additionally, she can, through this tablet, perform a Heroic Spirit Shade Summoning by invoking its true name. The shadow summoned is one derived from her own heroic spirit.

Sagesse de Résolution, Perseverence: Gifted to her unintentionally by Howard Phillip Lovecraft. She learned from Lovecraft the strength one gets in Persevering through trials and tribulations and what can be accomplished with that strength. This wisdom, inscribed on a tablet, becomes a great shield when held. It grants her the effects of the skill Indomitable while this gift is active at C-rank. Upon using its true name its true power activates and makes her totally immune to all damage so long as she maintains a defensive stance and does not strike back. Absorbing small amounts of mana from each strike, when she does finally strike the stored mana is unleashed as an attack.

Sagesse de Liberté, Defiance: The last wisdom she gained. The final gift from humanity that she received. Defiance. Taught to her by one deemed by fate to be an utter failure. One who holds her highest respect. In the face of fate decreeing he'd never succeed she witnessed Maurice completely and utterly defy that fate and walk to the Root. The tablet representing this gift with the wisdom of defiance inscribed upon it takes the form of a simple dagger. It grants her the skill Nature of a Rebellious Spirit which makes her prone to wanderlust, dampers the effects of a command spell, and negates the effects of Charisma equivalent to its level, C-rank. When she uses its true name she can reverse the effects of active command spells on both herself and others for better or worse.

Réseau des Archives Humaines Akashiques
Ritual for Expanding the Records of Human Knowledge

Type: Anti-Human Order
Rank: EX
A spell she has ready in the back of her mind. The pieces needed and where and when to obtain them. All she needs, however, is to simply collect the pieces and perform the ritual over the course of a day. All, except one item that is vital to the ritual. Any casting of this spell without it will end in failure as it is the basis of the ritual. The Book of Thoth. A mystic code made to replicate the Terminal of Akasha stolen by the magus Anzu from the Root.

Even as a replica, it is immensely powerful. Connected to the root, it can acquire any and all knowledge in the universe. This ritual, meant to eliminate ignorance, accomplishes this by utilizing the Book of Thoth. It will connect all of humanity mentally to the Akashic Record or something that can stand in as it allows them to acquire any information they wish immediately.

Naturally, to do this, she requires either the original Terminal or the mystic code based on it. Either the Emerald Tablets of Destiny or the Book of Thoth. If she lacks one of them this noble phantasm, this ritual, cannot be utilized at all. Once she has them however she can enact the ritual over the course of a day.

As she invokes the ritual, speaking its incantations, a field around her will expand. Every 'human' within the field becomes mentally connected to the terminal established by her and can, with a mere thought, have any question answered. Further, it does not act as a monkey's paw as the terminal will search for the reason behind the inquiry so its answer satisfies the spirit of the question.

This field will expand more and more as she chants the incantations until she either stops or the field encompasses the globe. If she stops and starts then the field will, once she resumes, continue its expansion. If she were to chant non-stop it would take her 24 hours for this field to encompass the globe and connect all humans to the established terminal.

As rituals require mana another requirement is that she must begin the ritual on a leyline she has captured. Should the terminal somehow become disconnected from the leyline, the ritual will fail and she must start all over again. Should humans be connected to the terminal this connection is completely severed. As it is merely a mental connection, the most a human would face is simply a mild headache for a day.

The sole exception is after the ritual encompasses the globe. From then on it is either a leyline or humanity itself that supports the ritual and the connection to the terminal. This effect could easily be sustained for a thousand years on the Od of humanity collectively once established, giving it plenty of time to find a suitable leyline to connect the terminal to in order to fuel the connection.
