Thoughts on RPs

I remember seeing something like this said before awhile back, but I'm just now really starting to see it for myself. A believe what was said went along the lines of "RPs aren't what they used to be." Granted I wasn't a member of the old BL, I did lurk and I kind of remember the situation. Basically, there really weren't that many (I think the only active ones were Sun's Cafe, Fate/Regalia, and Tsukuyomi Gakuen) and when a new one did come out (or was proposed), it was a pretty big deal.
Now it seems that RPs come out as frequently as fanfiction and most RPs we have now seem to die young or simply don't get developed. It's kind of sad really. With so many different people here on BL, there are a variety of interesting ideas to see and a lot of works I'd like to see expanded, but it's just not happening as much as I would have hoped.
I dunno.
Maybe it's just me. Or maybe it's simply time problems. But at the very least I'd kind of like to know if a project isn't going to continue.
