Secret Santa Servants redux

Rate this Entry
Murder.

Desecration.

Avoiding responsibility.

These were the crimes of the first sin.

A crime committed over reasons long forgotten.

The punishments were handed down and God left the man to his fate.

He lost his family, he lost his livlihood, and in time he even lost the wife he could've loved.

He lost everything.

Yet still he wandered. Weathering any blow, surviving any attack.

He endured unlimited hardships.

Until one day his horn was mistaken for that of an animals and his descendent fired and arrow into his head.

An arrow that pierced his brainstem.

Robbing him of the last thing he had left.

Freedom.

Yet he did not die. Even then, he persisted in the world.

Instead, all that was made was a record.

A record of the first murderer.

A record of the first sinner.

A record of Cain.

History
You wish to know my story?

You are willing to entertain any notions the First Sin might have?

Alright... thank you.

My name is Cain, first son of Adam and Eve. I am the one who first killed their own brother in cold blood for ultimately meaningless reasons. No matter how I justify the act, it remains that I killed him. In that sense... I am also the first sinner.

Yet I regret it.

I still remember why I did it. Jealousy. I had no better reason than that. God showed favor to Abel and showed me none and I was jealous of that attention... and so I threw a rock in anger. I admit, I did not think to kill him, only harm. Yet my carelessness killed my brother anyway. The lack of intent does not matter. Especially since in the first place it was a friendly competition to earn gods attention and favor. It was never supposed to be so serious as to risk life or death.

Yet I killed him anyway.

Then I made the worst mistake I could have; I tried to escape punishment. I hid his body in the ground disgracefully and I tried to lie to god. Of course I failed. Yet the fact I tried at all, to anyone, was the problem. I didn't accept responsibility for my actions.

So he punished me for each crime.

For killing my brother I was no longer allowed to die. For the crime of desecration, I was no longer allowed to work. I was also made an enemy of mankind because I attempted to escape responsibility. Those were the punishments god forced on me... back then, I cried in rage. Now... now I understand why he was so mad at me. I failed in every way.

Afterward, I wandered with my wife.

We had kids, they built cities at my direction, and we had to keep moving because eventually humans would get brave enough to attack me and my family... and of course, over time, I came to realize the error of my ways. It was right before the flood. I watched my descendents play in the fields and for once I felt happy. Even though I felt pain from an injury inflicted a hundred years prior, I felt content watching them enjoy life.

The flood came years later and I retreated from the world.

I became a wanderer and simply watched mankind. I ceased to intervene or seek their companionship. I... recognized my place in the world and theirs. That one day I would witness their great deeds. I... am still eager to witness that.

Class Skills
Curse of Immortality
EX

A skill that has replaced Independent Manifestation.

Cain murdered Abel. Regardless of his reasons, this is an immutable fact of the event. Cain initiated hostilities that ended in the unjust death of Abel. A crime to the laws set down by God. As such, this skill is a punishment to Cain.

Despite its name, this skill does not grant true immortality.

It prevents the supernatural instant imposition of death or true death, he is a confirmed existence and so can operate with total autonomy, and has some resistant against temporal attacks. Additionally, his soul is completely immune to damage, soul rot, or dispersal by any means through this Divine Curse.

However this is the extent of its protections as his body is as vulnerable as anyone elses and must heal like anyone else. Even when facing total destruction, all that occurs is the soul being ejected from the timeline to another one.

Curse of Enmity
EX

A skill that has completely replaced Authority of the Beast.

Cain, after murdering Abel, attempted to hide and deny his crime. To this end he lied directly to God. His crime was not only lying to God, but trying to escape responsibility. So he was punished for this with a curse that made a horn protrude from the nape of his neck acting as a Beast's Crown. A physical malady that would infect even his descendents.

This curse, in addition to the above, also causes anyone who perceives his presence to have their morality regarding violence eroded immediately. Not only this, he becomes the target of any greivance or grudge they may hold regardless of the actual depth to such greivances or grudges.

Oblivion Correction
EX

A skill normally associated with Avenger servants.

It prevents them from forgetting their grudges and anything else about themselves to keep their hatred pure. It also allows them to attack others in the gaps of their memories, those strikes dealing critical damage. Cain, like many of his skills, cannot control it and not only can never forget his sins and past but also instinctively attacks when others forget.

Not a punishment of God but an aspect of Cain, who refuses to forget what he did and worked his entire life and afterlife to atone for his crimes.

Personal Skills
Curse of Ruin
EX

This skill has replaced the skill Aptitude for Slaughter.

This skill represents the third punishment Cain received from God. The crime was the desecration of his brother's body. To hide the crime of murder, Cain attempted to hide Abel’s body in a shallow, unmarked grave. Never once during this process did he show an ounce of regret, remorse, or even respect. God punished him and cursed him to never be able to work anything with his hands again.

As a skill, Cain’s hands rot anything they touch. Whether it is inanimate rock or human flesh, whatever he touches begins to decay immediately. As it is a Divine Curse, resisting it is very difficult. The only consistent defense is skills that impart immunity to Instant Death. In such cases, it degrades to high-level resistance.

Innocent Monster
EX

A skill that is a result of a conflict between his life and his legend.

In myth, Cain is seen as a symbol of evil. In life, Cain simply tried to survive in a constantly changing world. Not good, but not evil. This discrepency has resulted in gaining this skill. Normally even his thoughts and mind would be overwritten, but his Oblivion Correction prevents this. As such, only his body becomes mared by symbols of his sins.

Additionally, this skill makes it impossible for Cain to control the use and properties of any of his skills or noble phantasms. The only benefit he derives from this skill is a noble phantasm.

Nega-Messiah
EX

The nega-skill of the first murderer, the first son, and the first sin.

Cain’s presence automatically disables the powers of Faith itself regardless of the source or target. Additionally, the Personal Skills of Saver-class servants are automatically sealed. Finally, all of his attacks and skills gain a plus modifier when fighting a Saver-class servant.

Personality

Cain can easily be seen as a rude, vulgar, unrefined individual.

He is incredibly blunt and does not mince words when he speaks. Further he often will not look at who he speaks to nor will he follow customs while speaking. As such, he comes across as rude and curt. Yet it is not out of any malice or disdain. It comes from paranoia regarding his own existence. He is aware of what he is and the danger he poses and so keeps any encounter short.

Yet, he is not a true isolationist.

He seeks human connection. He seeks to socialize and be around other humans despite the danger his presence represents. The few times he willingly interacts with others is him unable to resist this desire and him indulging in it. To him, this is why he is a Beast. Not his curse, but his inability to truely isolate from humanity.

Beyond this, he is a mild individual.

His eons of existence have whittled and eroded away any sort of ancient malice or arrogance he may have once held. All that exists anymore is a man who recognizes his mistakes, knows he cannot correct them, and seeks to atone instead.

You've summoned a dangerous ally. I suggest leaving my presence immediately and trying again... use my own body for the fuel. Not the catalyst though. It'd be a waste.

Master
Bond 5

I am unsure why you continue to interact with me. I can feel it, you know. That rage. Behind your eyes, like a flame, it flickers. Animosity, discontent, fear, and rage. Yet... you are still in control. Admirable, truly. I somehow found a good master in you... I can only question the price I or you will pay for this kindness.

Master
Bond 10

... You know, master, I had a dream once. It was some decades after my crimes. I was hunting while my wife attended the children and as I gazed on the plains, I imagine a home for my wife and kids and then their descendents. I knew I could not construct it alone, so I imagined getting help. That is how the first city was built. Though my wife, who laughed at the idea, did most of the work.... I do miss my wife, Fujimaru.

Rank
C

A noble phantasm acquired from certain legends regarding his life after murdering Abel.

He is seen as a symbol of evil and some gnostic circles even hold that he had a purpose beyond mere jealousy for it. One reason attributed is a desire for power. The story goes that he made a pact with Satan; he would murder his brother with his own hands and Satan would impart a secret of great power to him. He then went on to murder Abel and try to avoid punishment.

Normally this would only be a Personal Skill, but his Beast saint graph enhances it to the level of being a noble phantasm. This is due to it being a fabrication of Innocent Monster and in essence an extension of it. This 'secret' is the noble phantasm. Like his skills, Cain cannot control this noble phantasm.

Cain converts any corpses of any kind around him into true ether and this true ether is then automatically absorbed into him. Further, there is no limit to how much true ether he can store in his saint graph. This true ether is utilized to fuel each and every curse he holds. If he has no true ether, it is not that they deactivate but they eat his saint graph to fuel themselves.

The range for this noble phantasm is effectively anything that dies within a 100 meter radius of himself.
