Though I made an account and stopped being a lurker I quite quickly created a bigger word count in my two blog entries than all of my posts combined. I see some people have actually bothered reading one or the other, or even both entries. Despite it being quite easily disguised as blog entries functioning as intended (you know, how the main difference between a thread and a blog entry is that the former is intended for community interaction and the latter is not as much) I was actually secretly hoping a comment or two relating to the topic(s) would appear on either blog entry just so I could test out how it feels to talk about something typemoon on well.. a typemoon forum. I've kept my actual posts minimally discussive because frankly, I feel like most people around here are way more informed about whatever it is I could want to talk about or express myself. The way I imagine it, it'd end up mostly others correcting a misconception or misunderstanding I have if they even bother to interact with a post of mine in the first place. I'm a pretty opinionated guy and I speak pretty loudly in groups or circles I already understand and am acquainted with but a public forum where you know for a fact people are really hardcore into something with as much lore as TM, or even just Fate on its own is kind of its own beast. No pun intended.


So yeah, I feel like I'm suffering from forum angst. I want to be part of discussion(s) but I end up playing it safe because I don't have ten years of typemoon under my belt and as such feel way less confident in any takes I have about the typemoon content I have consumed, when wanting to express them somewhere like here.

Is it stupid that I made an account and still read way more posts than I take part, essentially making me a glorified lurker? Maybe. Maybe. Idk, I was pretty starved for a forum platform and once I took the leap it felt like I was in over my head.

    It's pretty normal to feel posting anxiety when starting out in a community. That said, everyone has a different propensity for speaking up and posting their thoughts, which is why you'll see people who have been here for a couple of years having tens of thousands of posts while others have made a few thousands or even hundreds in more than a decade. Reading what other people say and enjoying their takes is a big part of the forum experience whether you feel the need to interact with every single post or rarely have something you want to voice. In any case, blogs aren't the best place for discussion anymore on account of them being out of the way and the comment section having less interactivity.

    Also the knowledge threshold that's very often imagined when it comes to TM discussions really isn't that high, especially if you just wanna chat about something you like and don't care if you say something people disagree with. Worst case scenario is that you learn something new about the setting you like (spoiler: everyone who seems knowledgeable got there after a long process of getting things wrong).

    As an experiment, you could try posting your other blog in the Miscellaneous Thoughts thread?

    Thanks for sharing your input. I'm down to try it out, I assume you're talking about the last entry I made relating to Shirou?
