逆襲, which Nasu arbitrarily calls "Revenge", is striking back. Something precious gets taken away and you go on a completely personal revenge. That's the implicit reason why Kriemhild and Penthesilea have to be Berserkers instead of Avengers, and the reason why Nitocris Alter gets called an "Avenger without vengeance" and can only be properly identified as Nitocris if Double-Classed as a Berserker.

報復, which Nasu calls arbitrarily "Avenge", is retribution. Angra's Logos as a Beast. Revenge accompanied by justice or a greater cause. Dantès qualifies because he fought for Faria as much as he fought for himself. Jalter probably qualifies because she was making the world Gilles wanted rather than her own. Salieri... is made of rumors so he's technically representing the voice of the people??? And Kagekiyo is all about slaughtering those in positions of power.
