Since I don't want to make this week pass without an update on this blog and I still bored out of my mind with nothing to do, let me update you all with what I am playing today. Consider this a part two of Entry #3 and I am afraid that this might be a habit in my blogging but hell, it's better than doing fucking nothing. At all.
So I finally finished Deus Ex 1 and well, I was surprised on that last mission. I was presented with three choices, meant to be some sort of philosophical turning point for this game, but the choices can be simply be reduced to choosing if I want to rule the world as a member of some sort of secret society, living life without Internet or ruling the world as an intellectual god of sorts. I chose the third option, partly because of the guy who presented the choice and partly because maybe I'm a bit megalomaniac. Just a bit, I don't think I could control the bloody weather or political climate or something like that. But anyway, that ending could have been epic but instead, we get a quote from a goddamned French revolutionary.
And I've also finished Dante's Inferno and I could say that, while I enjoyed the theme and general gameplay mechanics, the story was ill-translated from paper to cinematic. And it might be a well-executed God of War clone, but it is still a God of War clone. But hey, at least Dante isn't apeshit raging. And the replay value is almost non-existent if you're not connected to the Net. But that is, if you enjoy absolving the hell out of demons.
Saints Row 3 can be described with one phrase: over-the-top. On the first mission, you're already executing the most audacious and shameless bank heist ever humanly possible, then next you are skydiving while gunning down mooks who are chasing you, akin to a scene from the movie Shoot 'Em Up. Side missions include using an Abrams tank to cause damage, a deadly parody of ridiculous Japanese game shows and the good ol' escort mission. And hell, one mission is an indecisive deconstruction of every enemy looking the same. It was also my second encounter with Xbox, first being Dead Rising 2: OTR. And it was good, yo.
And yeah, we are almost done torrenting the complete episodes of Pirate Sentai Gokaiger. I like pirates, I like Power Rangers, I like Masked Rider Black and I like this show, although the character of Gai Ikari seems to be a wish-fulfillment for the audience, specifically those who are great fans of the show from over the years. He is Gokai Silver and if there's any member in the Squadron that has the coolest weapons, it's always the Sixth Ranger. One flaw of his character is his personality's potential to be a fearless fool as well as the least good-looking guy in the bunch. At least in our opinion.
And yes, we also finished the anime Another, which I could describe as "Final Destination written by Ryukishi07." The story itself has a little potential to be a VN or dating sim and I was surprised that it wasn't in the first place, as it is originally a novel. But well, despite having the two main characters as a boy-girl couple, it manages to advert so much romance because of two things. First, because they are underage. Second, because the setting takes place in the year 1972, so a lot of conservatism is expected. In that way, the author effectively makes the reader or rather, the viewer focus on the horror. And for me, it wasn't that too scary. But you know, it's still a gorefest, so if you want mindless gorefest without it being too exaggerated like Saya no Uta, I'd say watch this anime.
And yeah, I finally got Daemon Tools Lite for my desktop. If I get it working, I guess that I will have a field day in gaming. But still, I plan to play more VN. I'm thinking of Shuffle!
