Gah, What Was I Doing?

So when you start writing you usually get better at it. It's probably a gradual process but there eventually is a point where you look back on what you used to write and cringe a little.

I have reached that point with Lyrical Days.

I mean, don't get me wrong. I love the story and well, the people that are following it are really supportive, but... I don't feel like it's a story that should be getting that much support.

I guess the main problem I have with it, is that I'm rehashing too much of each episode. I don't have enough original material for it to feel like, my story. I mean, yeah, the idea is that some things are supposed to happen and I can't really change too much of the stuff that happens in this first arc because, well most the events that have happened without any outside interference anyways. But I feel like I am not putting enough of me in there.

My plans for the next arc are a lot more open but I can't help but feel like what I wrote so far sucks really really badly.

There is a part of me that looks at the six chapter of what's down and want to just delete the entire thing from the internet and start over. The intro is out of nowhere and offers no real introduction to the characters, the first few episodes have random plot points and coincidences that don't flow well and chapter six still makes me cringe a little at the second half.

Then there is the other part of me that says to press on and just keep writing. You'll get better and the next arc is where everything really picks up anyways. That's the arc that you really want to write and this was just to introduce the concept.

I dunno. I'm going to edit the first few chapters a little and think it over. I'm probably not going to scrap the story so far because, god it's taken me over half a year to get to this point and I would at least like to finish the arc before I try to rebuild it, but... I dunno. I just feel like this story should be more to be on this board.

Make a movie version that retells the events on a better way laterish. Is what Nanoha did after all =V

Ah. I've been there before, it sucks.

Whatever you feel is needed. It's your creation, you should feel proud of it.

I am proud of this story because well, I'm actually getting through it and all of my other stories were much much worse, to the point where I am probably going to delete them from the interweb and spare the eyes of the future readers.

I guess I'm going to finish this arc and than go over it and re haul the entire thing similar to what fraggle is doing. The first chapter needs a lot of work and there are a lot of sections that need some editing to make it flow better.

If you guys have any real problem with the story, I would love for you to tell me it here.

Flame, criticism, whatever. If you see a problem tell me, because I have tinted glasses because I see things that should be there but aren't.

One's worst critic is always oneself. Never forget that.

Me, I just made a habit of calling everything I do "crap" and if others deem it otherwise, then I've succeeded.

But I think if you did truly awful, people would let you know. If other people are saying you're doing great and you're overall getting more good than bad feedback, you're probably just hypercriticizing yourself. Just pay attention to things people think are wrong and you'll do fine.
