Big Haul Today

I needed to kill time today around noon, since I didn't want to leave my bike hanging around high school kids on their lunch break, and so I decided to go to The Book Man, the awesome local used books store.

I was initially thinking of just meandering around in there for an hour or so, but then I checked the Languages and History sections - coming upon some things that intrigued me greatly.

The Latin books were apparently stocked up to maximum, with way more than I even thought possible; I'm talking near the levels of more commonly learned languages and such, like German and Chinese. So, there was no way I was going to let that go, and I bought a big Latin dictionary and a pocket Latin dictionary.

In the History section, there were a few new books, some of them ones that I already own. However, there was a new reference text on women in Greek and Roman society, and I snatched that up almost immediately. It's actually a college-level text, with translations from the original languages, historical references and context. It's pretty fantastic, and bundled in a reader-friendly package.

So, that was my nerdy day at the bookstore.

    Also, I squeed when I saw that the book on Women in Greece and Rome cites its sources. So rad.

    Sadly, I don't have any library or book store near me that I could get such books. The university one doesn't count, since all the books for sale are out-of-date nursing text books and the like. :/

    I ordered a book from the library a while back.

    Gonna be three months 'til it comes in. But, it'll be worth it so hard.
