AnimeNEXT 2012 Thoughts (or, Utena Utena Utena).

First and foremost, I can still feel my legs. I consider this a good thing, since Hero's blog post on the matter of attending a con left his legs hurting. I guess it's a sign of how much I walk and run that all I felt after a day of walking from about eleven to five was some twinging in my muscles.
Didn't go on a spending spree because of financial issues, but I bought the Student Council and Black Rose arcs for Revolutionary Girl Utena, which was about 86 dollars total. I would have gotten the full set if I could, but the End Of The World arc cost 64 bucks just on its own, and buying all three would have put the price tag at over 100 dollars, and I don't think I need to say that my parents would have killed me if I spent that much money on anime. So in the end, I cut my losses and bought the first two sets, and hopefully I can net the third set cheap somewhere online when our financial situation is a little more stable, or maybe pick it up at another con sometime this year. Needless to say, this is going to put me on one hell of an Utena kick (good news for Fellows?).
It also goes without saying that after this, I'm going to have a string of Utena avatars. Brace yourself.
Also saw the full box set for Shikabane Hime/Corpse Princess while I was there, but it was 56 bucks and it made me cringe. Maybe if I'd seen it before I went and spent 40 dollars on the Utena Student Council set, but eh, if it's a choice between the two I'm always going to put Utena first. I like Shikabane Hime, but Utena is special to me.
Saw Fate/Unlimited Codes for the PS2 for 40 bucks. Promptly rage-faced because I'd already spent my money on Utena. DAMMIT.
Takes attending a con to realize how many anime and manga series you don't know. Oi vey.
Saw several Utena and Sailor Moon cosplays. My life is now complete.
All in all, it was a fun day. Not the best organized event, but the Dating Game Show we attended was hilarious to watch ("It's because of your scar, isn't it?"), and in the end I got to hang with my friends and buy some stuff, which made it a good day in my mind.
